Shot 2 (with 1)

After various appointments at the clinic, yesterday, we finally got the go ahead to start Shot 2 with 1.

We were feeling super excited to start the next stage, but at the same time I felt nervous. Will this short hurtt? How will I react to the medicine?

The shot

The first Menupur Shot ( Yesterday)

So we did the first shot as usual, and then I decided to switch sides of my stomach for the second shot. My husband prepared the shot, however we had a few hiccups!

  • The menupur shot is actually not that simple to administer.
  • My husband put the injection in me ( to my surprise it felt exactly the same as one)
  • Halfway through the injection, my husband took it out because not all the liquid was being injected.
  • Whilst out, it was leaking….
  • He put it back in again ( poor us!) and then managed to inject the remaining medicine.
  • We called the on call doctor ( the NHS service has been amazing!) to check if we needed to set up another injection as we approx only injected 0.8ml, however we were informed to inject 1ml.
  • The on call doctor said it was nothing to worry about as it was the first injection, but it worth my husband popping in to the clinic tomorrow for another lesson on how to administer the shot.

All in all, after everything – the mistake we did was – when taking air out of the syringe – make sure the injection is upside down ( with the needle pointing in the air! )

Todays shot(s)

Both were done fine today with no hiccups thankfully!

The Menupur shot didn’t hurt when going in, the the after effect isn’t pleasant for 10-15mins. It stings… hopefully this will get better as we continue!
