Embryo Transfer

Embryo transfer was exciting!!! Finally this is what we have been preparing for!!! From googling this and asking the staff at the clinic, i was told embryo transfer was a lot simpler and pretty painless compared to egg collection. I was told it was similar to a smear test and there was nothing to worry about.

The transfer ( painless! )…..

  • My husband and i were told to arrive at the clinic at 10am.
  • We were told to both change into scrubs as hubby would be sitting by my side during the transfer.
  • We waiting anxiously in our scrubs to be called into theatre.
  • In theatre i was asked to sit in a chair ( similar to the chair i sat in during all those scans!).
  • There were two ladies in theatre. One lady was looking at my embryo through a scientific telescope, ensuring it was ready to be inserted. The other lady was ensuring i was sitting correctly in the chair and was feeling relaxed. Hubby was holding my hand 🙂
  • The ladies made us feel comfortable as there was lots of chatter in the room.
  • I was informed they were going to insert a tube and the embryo would be transferred through this tube.
  • As the lady inserted the tube it was a bit uncomfortable but no pain ( thank god!). And then before i knew it she said its in!!!!!! 🙂

In our scrubs – embryo transfer here we come!!! 🙂

We were advised to relax and take it easy and do whatever my body wants to do. We were both feeling relieved and upbeat and i felt like i was pregnant – i felt i needed to take care of this little embryo in me…. after all we have been preparing for the last 6 weeks to make it!
